Surgical removal of skin lesions includes the removal of moles, benign and malignant tumors, and other skin lesions such as viral and degenerative lesions. The process is performed under local anesthesia, during which the lesion is completely excised. After the procedure, the incision site is sutured, and the removed sample is sent for pathohistological analysis (PHD), which helps in establishing an accurate diagnosis. The analysis is crucial because it indicates the nature of the lesion and the need for additional therapies, if necessary.
It is advisable to remove moles and other lesions if the skin area is injured, itchy, bleeding occurs, or if the mole grows, changes color, or has unclear edges. Such changes, especially when they are larger than one centimeter, may indicate an increased risk of malignant transformation, so timely intervention helps in prevention.
In addition to surgical removal, Terme Selce also offers treatments for other skin lesions, such as keratoses, fibromas, and verrucas (warts). Keratoses, or yellowish-brown rough lesions, are often removed to maintain the cleanliness and health of the skin. Fibroids, harmless soft growths, are often found in areas of constant friction, which is why their removal is recommended to prevent inflammation or bleeding. Warts, which are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), are removed for aesthetic reasons or in cases of irritation.
Removal approaches include cryotherapy (cooling with liquid nitrogen), electrocoagulation (melting the growths with an electric current), applanation, and radiosurgical and laser removal. Cryotherapy is particularly useful for removing smaller lesions, while electrocoagulation is very effective for fibroids, leaving the skin smooth and aesthetically appealing. At Terme Polyclinic, we use the most modern removal methods to ensure a quick recovery, precise results, and maximum reduction in the visibility of scars.
