BOOK AN APPOINTMENTA 24-hour Holter monitor is essential for diagnosing arrhythmias that occur intermittently or only during certain activities. In this method, the patient wears a small device (Holter) that continuously records the heart's electrical activity throughout the day. Electrodes are attached to the patient's skin while the device records the data. The patient can continue with normal daily activities, but the device records all heart activity, including irregularities that may occur at rest or during exercise.
After 24 hours, the data is analyzed, and doctors can spot any irregularities in the heart rhythm that were not apparent during a short-term EKG. A Holter test also helps monitor patients who have already been diagnosed with arrhythmias, as well as those who have had a heart attack or other heart procedure.
This method is ideal for patients who experience symptoms such as dizziness, fainting, chest pain, or palpitations, but whose symptoms are not present during a routine examination. Since the Holter device records heart activity throughout the day, doctors get a comprehensive view of the heart's functioning and can make a more accurate diagnosis.
Thanks to 24-hour Holter, it is possible to recognize early signs of serious heart problems and start appropriate treatment as soon as possible, thus reducing the risk of serious complications.
