Laboratory findings PHD

PHD (pathohistological diagnosis) is the microscopic analysis of a biopsy or surgical tissue sample for the purpose of making a diagnosis. The analysis is performed by a specialist pathologist after processing the tissue sample.

Duration of treatment

Results are usually available within 7-14 days after sample collection.

Recommended number of treatments

One finding per sample or procedure, additional examinations as needed.

Who it is for

People who have had skin changes, such as moles, warts, or tumors, surgically removed to assess the nature of the change

Contraindications

There are no specific contraindications for PHD analysis, but sample quality may depend on the method of collection and the state of the change.

Pathohistological diagnostics (PHD) is a laboratory analysis of tissue taken from the skin to accurately determine the nature of the change – whether it is benign (benign) or malignant (malignant) in origin. This type of laboratory analysis is essential in dermatology and dermatosurgery, especially when removing suspicious lesions, moles or other neoplasms, and is often a standard part of surgical procedures to remove skin changes.

PHD analysis provides a detailed insight into the structure of the tissue under a microscope. After surgery, the sample is preserved and sent to a specialized laboratory where it is processed and examined under high magnification. The goal is to identify the characteristics of the cells and their potential abnormality. Based on the PHD findings, the presence of melanoma or other types of skin tumors can be determined, for example, which is crucial for further treatment planning.

Pathohistological findings are particularly important in people who have a history of malignant changes or are at high risk of developing skin cancer. An accurate and timely result allows for a rapid response and an optimal therapeutic approach. At Terme Selce, all procedures related to sample collection and communication with patients are carefully carried out, so that the results are as precise as possible and patients are quickly informed about the status of their changes.
